ART IN THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA

My husband and I were in Philadelphia on Memorial Day weekend.

I had been to D.C. a couple of times but never to Philadelphia. A one and a half hour trip from Penn Station.

Nice to meet you, Philly!

Philadelphia is another great city for art lovers. Besides the renowned museums such as Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Foundation, which I will definitely come back to in other posts, their public art was really cute and vibrant.

As we were walking to the hotel, this gorgeous Lichtenstein sculpture was found. It’s called “Brushstroke Group”.

There was a lovely park, too. Dominos, checkers, chess and other game pieces littered the space.

“Your Move” by Daniel Martinez, Renee Petropoulis, and Roger White.

Even a parking lot was photogenic.

As the weather was the biggest concern of our trip, we decided to first go to Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, an outdoor art site, which is in downtown Philadelphia.

“Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens” is a museum that shows beautiful walls of colorful and playful mosaic by mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar.

The Mosaic Gardens were on South Street, which had a different atmosphere from the city center. I was able to find a lot of interesting signs on South. Stay tuned for many fun images from our trip to Philly!
