Philadelphia Museum of Art – such a great museum with a wonderful modern art collection!
It was smaller than the Met in size, but the modern art collection was as amazing as that of the Met! There was so much great work from the list of “Art to See before I Die.”
I could’t help but gasp when I saw this masterpiece by Paul Cézanne, “Great Bathers”.
This paining had changed the common theory of art in the early 20th century. There is no perspective but he expressed the depth of the scape by three triangles. (As I remember from my art history class in college.)
There were a lot more masterpieces by other fathers of modern art, too.
Pablo Picasso, “Woman and Children”
Henri Matisse, “Woman in Blue”
Paul Klee, “But the Red Roof”
Paul Klee, “Prestidigitator (Conjuring Trick)”
Their contemporary collection was also fun.
As people say, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is indeed one of the best museums in the USA. It was the bright sunshine that dazzled me as I exited the museum, or maybe I was simply raptured and enchanted by the quintessential art collection.
